Nainital

So i'll be reaching Katgodham early monday morning, the 5th of october.

(q) how much do i have to pay the cab guy to take us to nainital? need to bargain hard or is it okay?

Been checking the hotels on sites like cleartrip etc but unable to makeup my mind..is the new bharat hotel good ? we just need the room to crash in teh evenings..the rates are about 1700/- anyone stayed there? the other alternative ws the mist n something...at 2000 odd..

(q) since most of th epeople i presume will be landing there early morning, how wwill the hotel charge /accomodate at that time as check in times are only 12 noon. Anyone experienced this?

I had stayed at Shervani Hill Top (full disclosure- free stay as a guest and in return a blog post) and it was a decent place but not sure of the prices.

I would say there are so many hotels why not just turn up and find a room after looking at it?

Kathgodam to Nainital taxi is Rs. 200 per taxi. No Bargaining involved. There are plenty of taxies waiting outside Kathgodam station.

Hotel Alka and Pratap Regency are nice hotels on the lake front...

Sherwani and Manu Maharani are in the top end...

Going to Nainital please visit Mukteshwar too, nice place to visit and many affordable hotels to stay there.

still confused about nainital hotel - the more i read reviews on the travel sites, the more lost i am...thought of new bharat which is going at 1700 plus a 20% cashback...also looked at primrose..basically every hotel has +s and -s...do you suggest i just go to 3 or 4 hotels in the morning and check the rooms and bargain? will the taxi guy take me around for say 50 bucks more?

And are you sure its only 200 bucks for a 35 km journey from KGM to nainital

Yes ! It's per taxi not per person.

You may search hotels after going there...but with luggage it may be a problem.....
