Mysore: any interesting ideas for a budget room?
I am so thrilled with the ideas I have received for interesting old places in Delhi, Goa, and Kochi that I am going to try one more -- can anyone suggest a good place to stay -- old-world-charm, a bit faded is okay, definitely not the kind of thing that would have "Holiday Inn" stuck up on the front -- in Mysore? So far, the only one I have come up against is in Lonely Planet: the Ritz, which (apparently) has only four rooms (not many places for the ghosts to hide)!
All advice gratefully recived and swiftly acknowledged. |

Hotel Indra Bhavan on Dhavanthri Road.
Paid 200 Rs for a double room. Close to railways station (1/2 km) and Devaraja market. Short walk to the palace. Many Tibetans and Laddahkis go to this place and the food is great. Hotel Indra Bhavan Dhanvantri Road, Mysore – 570 001 Tel: 0821-423933, 423755 Fax: 0821-422290 e-mail: hotel_indra_bhavan@rediffmail. com |

Thanks, both of you, for those suggestions. I checked them and found each in the Lonely Planet "South India". They preferred (slightly) the Dasaprakash, but I must admit that Kailash35's description of the Indra Bavan is intriguing.
Does anybody have any further recommendations? |
