mumbai help...
Guyz
I need small help from your side.
I got to attend some conference in mumbai on 5 and 6 of january, and company provides me with accomodation from 4th night, and I was supposed to leave on 4th evening from delhi.
But I got my air ticket pre-poned from 4th evening to 2nd evening.
So I got 2nd night + 3rd and 4th Jan, as free time, and on my own.
guyz: so I need help in:
(plz be patient.. long list)
1) Is it worthwhile to get two extra days?
2) Can I get out of Mumbai on same day (2nd night)?
3) where to go?
4) Can I get a bike on rent?
5) Is it easy (or better uese the word possible) to drive out of mumbai for first-timer?
6) ideally, I would like to catch a train/bus and head out of mumbai, reach some small coastal place + and spend two days lazying around or get a bike to drive, and be back on monday morning in mumbai.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Ankur K

Ankur,
Its all possible.
Kihim is close enough from Mumbai, great beach and has some decent places to stay as well, MTDC has some sort of resort. You can take the ferry from Ferry wharf or even gateway. but then you would be dependent on the local autos to get about, which isnt really a hassle as there isnt anywhere to go except the beach.
The ferry is usually in the day. If you want to leave the same day, then you will have to get a bus, try the msrtc for more dope. I think they have something online but cant be sure as I havent been there, but I will now...
There are lots of places like Kihim (alibagh, murud janjira, etc) all 20-30 kms from each other on the bombay goa route and practically all will give you a nice clean beach.
Alternatively, if you like the hills, you could check out
1) Mahabaleshwar/panchgani 6-8 hours by road there might be night buses from Mumbai
2) Lonavala/Khandala - halfway down the Pune expressway, but might be crowded with mumbaikars
3) Matheran - take the toy train from Neral, but the toy train runs only once a day before noon I think. You could walk, but not advisable in the night, though trekking up is a popular option.
