Mathura - stay overnight or a day trip?

Maybe too late to ask cause I am leaving tomorrow... lol ... but what do you guys think - is staying in Mathura on my way to Agra is worth an overnight stay ? I either stay one night in Mathura and one night in Agra, or I go to Agra for two nights and only do a quick tour of Mathura on my way (as long as travel schedule allows me time to do so.... ) ... what would you suggest?

i've been there as a daytrip from Agra, i think it was enough. It doesn't take long by bus and there are plenty of them from Agra and to come back. The temple is really nice and full of monkeys (careful with shop bag and glasses ... u know what i mean).

thanks !

I was thinking maybe staying in Mathura might be cheaper ... also I heard some people suggesting it's not a really good idea to stay in Agra two days, it might be more peaceful in Mathura.

But then again I haven't seen ANY hotels recomendations in Mathura anyways...

thanks for your answer. I think that's what I will do, take a day trip.

Hi,

Last week, I stayed in one of the ashram in Vrindavan and went "clubbing" in that beautiful Krishna temple. Around 6 to 8pm, people sang and danced in that temple. The automosphere is really good there. I am sorry that I was not hindu but I felt like i was in a punk concert in that evening even though there was no alcohol there.

There are lots ashrams in Vrindavan offering rooms for around 250Rs. clean double room per night. But i didn't find Marthura insteresting.
