Master Guesthouse - Delhi fully booked - any suggestions?

Arriving Delhi mid-October, & was hoping to ease myself into 3 months travel with a couple of pleasant days at Master Guesthouse, but they have no vacancies for my dates. I'll hang out for a possible cancellation, but if it doesn't eventuate what's a woman to do?....anyone got any Delhi accomodation suggestions that include a bit of looking after & a daytour to start getting oriented to India again, before setting off into the thick of it?

As it's my 1st trip alone I loved the idea of arriving stressed out from frantic work & home organising, & having a couple of days in a (relatively) quiet organised setting where meals were available if you didn't want to budge, & there was a recommended small tour to see some Delhi sights. Yeah....I know I can organise that all easily from any hotel in Pahar Ganj, but it was the idea of a bit of initial "looking after" that appealed to my sense of fantasy!

Suggestions are very welcome, thanks,
Kay

Lightbulb STAYING in DELHI.. BEWARE

Hey Guys !

Staying in Delhi ( New Delhi) can be nice if you choose the right place. I wouldn't suggets go to any where in PAHARGANJ ( HELL HOLE)

If you do. be prepared for CHOosing COnfusion over orderliness for a few hundred rupees less.

Be prepared for being Lobbied abt Tours you dont wanna take.

Be prepared for spending yr hard earn income that you don't wanna spend.

Be prepared to be treated like a kid who needs prodding.

Be prepared to be not treated like an Adult who says no once to an establishment and it means a "NO"

I wrote this Article cuz my little friend ( 31 y/o) Andrew got culled into Paying 700 USD which is what my sweetie Terence from Canada paid for a Round Tip to India.

This wierd Guest House in Paharganj who's Listed on Lonely Planet, kept asking this person to take up this acco. Later, once I was consulted I couldnt believe that for 5 days and 5 nights in India and a Non Mercedes tour, he paid that huge amount.

We got it back after threatening the Hotel guy.... I cannot see people spending the money they didnt plan to spend. I have lived abroad and know how with great sacrifice we save what we save.

Please give a deaf ear and screw them good if they lobby much abt a tour.

Regards

Ex KLm guy

Are you talking about the master guesthouse here??? That is the general impression I get, although I should tell you that the guest house is not in the Paharganj part of town at all. Also the owners have never hassled me to stay there.

You are probably not talking about that place at all, but I wanted to clear this up as the master guest house should not get a bad reputation

JanPath Guest house. USually COnfused for Hotel Janpath is a nice cheap place next to the India Tourism also in the same block are Lufthansa and some nice places to arrange tickets...

Take a chance there, Nice place.. Its on Janpath Street. Current rates for A/c rooms 850 non A/c 430

A/c means air conditioned. October will be pleasant with nites cooler than the day.

I guess millions and millions of Paharganj dwellers must have been wrong after all.
