Maria Lodge, Mumbai
Maria Lodge, Mumbai
Hi,
Can anyone tell me if the Maria Lodge is still up and running. Don't expect a palace but want a toilet that flushes and a shower that I can clean myself in.
Will this place fit the bill?
Thanks in advance

Apparently it was last November: http://www.indiamike.com/india/listi...ing&listid=347 . Unless Hotel Maria and Maria Lodge are two different places.
Well that's funny, I had an automatic Kolkata association. I don't suppose they're the same no, being in two towns and all. A search on maria lodge mumbai will give you plenty of Google hits, hopefully that will give you some up-to-date info.

I don't know if this bothers you much but the Maria Lodge in Mumbai doesn't have flushing toilets. It's just a normal squat one. You do get your own shower, though.

It's not a bad option compared to other more expensive places in Mumbai. I stayed there for a week or so a year ago and it was fine.
Can't tell you whether it's still open or not though, sorry ...

One of the posters on this forum (Lyndy) and on Fodors (Lyndie) stayed at the Lawrence in Mumbai for 500 rupees, and was thrilled, not only with the price, but the value for money. It would be worth checking out her posts on both forums, since your chances of staying at the Maria Lodge seem to be dwindling.
I wondered if Tog was just getting the runaround by someone wanting to take him to another hotel... but I have just tried calling all three numbers for Maria Lodge and none of them are answering so it would appear the reports are true.
I also tried their sister-hotel, Hotel Sea Lord, but could only get a fax. I wonder if they've suffered the same fate?

I'm bumping this thread to find out if anyone has stayed at the Maria Lodge since January when Tog was told (by somebody) that it had closed. We have two recommendations for the Lodge in our Hotel section with reports by four members so I'd like to clear up whether the place is still running.
