Luxury Hotel in Goa or Varkala in Early October ?
Hi,
We will be making a trip down from Delhi and want the best place to go for some R & R - a luxious resort on the beach (5 Star) that has a good pool and is not too isolated - i.e. we would like to be able to walk to resturants and bars ( other than ones in hotels). I am confused whether North or South Goa is best? I hear that early Oct beach bars and seafood restaurants may not be open? Will North Goa have more atmosphere and action at this time of year? Alternatively, are we better making a trip to Varkala. Will the weather and hotels be better down here, or is it not worth the longer trip? Any advice will be much appreciated! |

In early Oct the beach bars and restaurants will be open although keep in mind these beach shacks are by no means luxurious or hygienic(barring a few exceptions). North Goa has more tourist activity although most of the luxury hotels are in South Goa.
The only real luxury 5 star hotel in North Goa is the Fort Aguada Beach resort. http://www.tajhotels.com/Leisure/For...OA/default.htm In South Goa the best 5 star hotel in my opinion is the Taj Exotica. http://www.tajhotels.com/Leisure/TAJ...OA/default.htm Another excellent hotel in South Goa is the the Leela Beach Resort http://www.theleela.com/leelagoa/home.html |

Thanks. I heard that the south may be too quiet at that time of the year? Those hotels look great however is Exotica too secluded from other resturants etc?
What about Taj Holiday Village? I think it is in the north? Any feedback much appreciated! |

The Taj Holiday Village is part of the same hotel complex as the Fort Aguada Beach Resort. It is one big hotel with 2 divisions having their own exclusive features. The rooms in The Taj Holday village are a little cheaper overall. As far as South Goa is concerned it will indeed be quieter in October as compared to North Goa. the Taj Exotica is a little secluded although it is more luxurious as compared to ANY other hotel in Goa. It is very expensive as well. A lot depends on whether you want to swim in the open sea. The beaches in South Goa are overall safer to swim in as compared to the beaches in North Goa. You will most likely get a decent discount for early October. |

Can you walk to bars and restaurants from Taj Exotica?
If not, how far away are other places to eat and drink? |

Most of the places are about a 10 min walk from the hotel. You can also rent a bicycle at the hotel to move around.
