looking for hotel in Bhopal/Sanchi area

Hi everyone,

I'm landing in Bhopal at 7:30 pm and was interested to head to Sanchi for one day visit (leaving the day after from Bhopal around 5 pm).

Do you think it's better to sleep in Bhopal or in Sanchi ? What is the best way to reach Sanchi ?

Any hotel suggestion in Bhopal / Sanchi (with emails) more than appreciated !!

I presume that you will be arriving in Bhopal by train. If so, I can recommend the retiring rooms at Bhopal Station - quite spacious and comfortable (self contained with bathroom and hot water) for a very reasonable 150/- a night. You will need to be able to produce train tickets to use the retiring rooms or have tickets for the onward journey.

I recall that there were not so many trains stopping in Sanchi - I travelled in the other direction - and buses were about every hour or even more frequent. The bus stand is only a few hundred metres from the railway station.

There are quite a few guest houses in Sanchi and there are also retiring rooms at Sanchi Station which are highly regarded in the various guidebooks. I stayed at the Jaiswal Lodge which was close to the village centre and pleasant enough.

Try to get to the temple early in the morning - it is a memorable place in a beautiful location.

Hi Charly,

From Bhopal to Sanchi you have many trains. Best one is Bina Passenger at 08.50 am. and takes only one hour. You can visit Sanchi in three/four hours, no need to stay there longer. In Bhopal in Hamidia Rd beside the Railway Station you'll find plenty budget hotels. Try Sonali or Manjeet.
