Question Looking for a AC hotel (Rs1000 ish) in Paharganj, Delhi

Hello to all of you, indiamike users, who make this site so incredibly useful.

Anyway, I may sound repetitive asking for this kind of info, but all the treaths I read tend to be at least a year old and things can really have changed from that time...

My husband and I (first time in India), are looking for a hotel in Paharganj. We thought of Godwin Deluxe but couldn't find much information about it. We read about Grand Godwin, but it seems prizier and also, some people have complained of paying through the internet and asked to pay more once they got there (I read this in trip advisor).

Anyway, we thought of Namaskar (Rs 750? plus airport pick up?), Nehru Bazzar (Rs1300?) or Prince Polonia (the web is not working, how much is this?)

Do you think other area in Delhi would be better?
Thank you so much for your suggestions!

Here's a link for the Polonia: Prince Polonia. There's no prices listed for the rooms, other than $$ which means mid-range.

I like the description given by the Hotel Namaskar. Unambiguous, spells everything out and the prices seem reasonable. But I'd like to know what the rooms are like.

Last time I was in Delhi, I stayed here: Hotel Ajanta. Well appointed, clean room, attached bathroom & restaurants both downstairs & on the rooftop.

Cheers
Zoltan

We stayed at Godwin Deluxe in May 2008. It is clean, staff is generally friendly (a couple of the receptionists are true characters), and the price is reasonable for what you get.

There are rooms at the back and front of the hotel. I would recommend the rooms at the front since these get daylight, whereas the rooms at the back have no windows (well, they do, but they have been blacked out). Rooms have A/C, but you should ask to have the temperature increased from the default 18C which is unbearably cold.

Thank you very much for your responses.

We tried booking in Godwin Deluxe and Grand Godwin for over a week. We booked on their websites twice but they never emailed us back for confirmation. We also emailed them with our request to the email they provide on their website... but they didnŽt respond either. We saw we could book online through other websites like trip advisor but realized the prize was almost double if paying with dollars from home!
The only thing we didnŽt do is calling them, we thought it was better trying Prince Polonia.

We booked at Prince Polonia yesterday and they already emailed us for confirmation. They provide airport pick up for Rs-550. They say they also have a swimming pool.

WeŽll let you know about our experience.
Thank you again!!
