Lodging for a night or two in Bangalore

I arrive early (4:30 am) by plane friday morning and expect to take a train out a day or two later and i was hoping someone could recommend a place to stay.

my budget is moderate (maybe up to 1400 rupees; but less is better).

this is my first trip to india (!), so i don't know enough to have any preferences re. location, etc. - however, i would like to shop a bit during my two days there.

oh yeah: any thoughts on whether i should pre-book?

many many thanks~
dave

hmmmm...., maybe i should have posted under "Hotels and Lodging"?

hi indiatake1
Welcome to bangalore,
I suggest you to book your rooms well in advance,
Try Hotel Nandhini on st.marks road, Hotel Curzon Court on Brigade road, Hotel Ajantha and Brindawan on M.G.Road, and lots more but please book. Try www.Yatra.com or www.travelguru.com.

pls note that the hotel booking counters in banagalore and every other airport in india is totally useless. the few pics are also misleading.. so watch out for the star rating...
many have terrible bathrooms and for 1400rupees, u really gonna get a not nice place..
