Question Know of a quiet hotel to chill in Rajasthan/Nth India/

I’m looking for an inexpensive (under 2,400R, 60$ or £30) friendly hotel or lodge in Rajasthan or North India to chill out for a couple of weeks. It must be quiet and peaceful with a garden or roof garden and the room must be clean with an ensuite shower/WC. It could be in a small town or countryside. There must be OK food either in the hotel or nearby. Simple is fine! I don’t want anything posh! I don’t want a spiritual retreat place or go to Shimla (too cold!) Any suggestions, please.

I just spent a couple nights at the Jamuna Resort in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. It is quite quiet, with a large lawn in front and a roof terrace. (There are however temples nearby which put out early morning bhajans on loud-speakers.) It is low-key, and you have the option ofhelping paint the place in frescoes and get subsidies (free?) accomodation.

Seems to satisfy all your conditions - small town, gardens, en-suite, etc. http://www.shivshekhawati.com/jamuna.html

Hope you find a nice place!

Lal Ghat in Udaipur is brilliant. I stayed there in December and it has exactly what you need: It's cheap, has good rooms, hot showers and good WC, it's right on the lake and has a wonderful rooftop overlooking the lake, a gardent-type chill out area, and there is plenty to do in Udaipur.
Let me know if you want some pics or more info.
