| July in Delhi We are considering booking at the Oberoi Maiden for a week in mid July, it is located near Delhi University and the new metro?? Does it make the most sense to order train tickets to Jaipur and Agra in advance and have them delivered to the hotel? Has anyone stayed there, is it clean, convenient??? None of the hotels that we can afford have health clubs - what do marathoners in training do in Delhi they couldn't possibly run outside in July. |

Assuming you're marathoners that have only been running in snow land. (it says Toronto under your screen name). In which case you should also be masochists. Have you any idea what 47C/117F is like...? (There isnt a better way to say that but guess you should let go of the training for a week.) That hotel is in an area called 'Civil Lines' by the locals (like me), though there are no military camp likes. 10 years before it used to be very green, under the shade of those big green Neem trees one wouldnt need an AC, cant say aboot now. oops, I digress.... That hotel is good, clean, convenient and close to the metro. Quote:
Your experience will be a lot better if you keep your expectations real(in India context), have an open mind, know how to mingle and keep safe at the same time. Read a lot on this forum... and have a good one.

| Thanks for the suggestions about the hotel/ trains. As it relates to running - I am wondering about health/fitness clubs where I could run indoors. Clearly 47 degrees is impossible for running outdoors. Given that our trip is 5 weeks in length - not running for the entire trip is simply not an option. |
