Please suggest hotel or other type of stay in walking distance of Madurai Meenakshi Temple. And if it has good view of the temple, great.
Thanks IMers.

I stayed in Sree Devi Hotel, just around the corner of the temple. There is a temple view from the rooftop.
The hotel is located in 20 West Avali Moola street.
Double with attached bathroom was 400 Rs.

you can walk to the temple from Hotel Supreme or Park, I stayed in both. they cost more that Sree Devi, that's for sure, but since your profile says you're male you'll probably feel safe at Sree Rat uh Devi....

Thanks Sama. I would check out both of them online, since I am traveling with two other female scary cats (scared of rats and lizards of course).
Would any of these hotels give a good view of the temple from the rooms or terrace for some photo opps?

Just had an idea for a new thread.....

"Are there any hotels where Gekkos don't pin themselves to the ceiling above your bed?"

or

"Do Gekkos ever fall onto hotel beds?"

This worried the hell out of me the first time I saw it, but I soon fell in love with the cute things.

I also stayed at hotel Supreme and they have a roof restaurant with excellent view of the temple...and the food is ok also.

In the same road a short walk away is a very good restaurant, excellent food and very cheap, but I don't remember the name.

I would stay in the Hotel Park over the Supreme, but that's me.

and yes, from the rooftop restaurants they both have great views of the temple complex.

don't subject your female friends to the Sree Devi -- they will hate you forever....

Both supreme and Park are close to the Temple and also walkable from the Railway station. So, don't get scammed by the auto drivers. Even if you lug your heavy luggage, it's all of 5 minutes to walk across to them.

Right opposite the Railway station is the Town hall road, which has a number of hotels in the street. The most famous in that lane is College house whose accomodation varies by budget. You could use that too. The GF has the canteen that serves food. The road leads to the Temple too, South Entrance.
