guest house in ooty

I have seen nice reference about reflections lodge (lonely planet). A couple who stayed there told, they didn't like the guest home owner charging each item a small amount rather they would have prefered she charging a bulk price. However, the house owner seems to be a cultured educated lady. Try

The weather should be perfect in February!

There are many hotels in Ooty. I have never stayed in a hotel in Ooty because we have a house there, but judging from their restaurants, I would suggest, Sinclairs Hotel, Holiday Inn, Gem Park, and The Taj Savoy.

All the best,

John

I stayed at the Willow Hill 8 years ago. cant remember too much, but can certainly say i did not have a bad experience. The room and bath were clean, it was spacious and reasonably priced. Sorry I cant remember more!

Ooooh, I stayed at Sagar Holiday Resort in Feb this year, and it was magic, pure magic All rooms overlook the valley, with tea plantations, eucalyptus tree smells, toy railway going through hills and mist in the mornings.... Mmmmm, I want to go back now

Didn't notice the food much, everything else was almost too romantic to bear

i was in ooty in november, and i can not recommend more highly the YWCA hotel. rooms were clean, beds were a bit hard, food was yummy homecooking and the whole dining room experience gives the traveller a chance to meet other people.

yes, men can stay in the YWCA in ooty. please note that if you are after luxury accommodation then the Y is possibly not for you. Lonely Planet classifies the Y as budget accommodation. The bathroom was spotless, the floors were bare but clean, beds a bit hard, you have to use bucket hot water - the geyser is just outside the bathroom, the food was yummy - it was a v.pleasant experience

YWCA Ooty

This is listed as a backpackers delight in OOty. It is generally full so book in advance.
We stayed at the YWCA in Coorg - 18 kms further from Ooty. Large basic comfortable rooms with attached baths. Rs. 400 per night. This was better than the one at Ooty.
In Ooty we stayed close to the Willow Hill in a place renamed as the Kings Cross (I am not sure of its exact name) in 2004. This was the former guest house of TISCO and it was a wonderful place. It was homely had the British Raj kind of ambience and fireplaces in the rooms. We paid about Rs.1200 per night. Wonderful bargain.
Regards
