hotels in India

Hi New Yorker

I was originally referring to the Park hotel in Conaught place, not the Park Royal Lily mentioned. Although the Park Royal is also economical, it's not centrally located so I went with Lily's prior suggestion of the Park in Conaught Place.

It seemed like a good value for the money - where else can you get a presidential suite for US $155 in peak season? Thanks again everyone. BTW, I'm glad I found this travel forum.

Each one of the Park Hotels has an interesting nightlife option.
The Park Royal has 'Float' a pretty popular club and the Park has a bar, 'Someplace Else' that has a night for gay men and lesbians on Tuesday. They are both interesting options to see a side of India way, way off the tourist trail....

Talking Hotels In India

Gay Life at Park Hotel - Interesting, very interesting, but I think I will skip going to the bar on Tuesday's gay night.

I guess we're getting off the track, anyway, how's the hotel in general - good service, quality, rooms, lobby, etc?

Some travel agent said that the Park Hotel, Le Meridien & Intercontinental hotel(In New Delhi) are cheap hotels & the pretty girls you see in the lobby aren't business women or women working at the hotel(I guess this agent was suggesting they are call girls or whatever).

Anyway, I can't overlook these hotels just cuz' one agent gave his opinion, besides, I'm not worried about which girl is a call girl, I'm just staying at the hotel with my hubby to enjoy my own vacation.

hmmm...can't comment on the pretty girls in the lobby...
can give a restaurant suggestion in Delhi...although I told you to
check out The Imperial Hotel and you ignored me , you should
go to the restaurant 'Spice Route' located in the Imperial. It's
got a great interior with really good food.....

I was referring about the Park Hotel in Conaught Place, not the Park Royal as Lily has mentioned.

Anyway, one of the agents I spoke to thought this Park hotel along with the Intercontinental & Le Meridien also located in Conaught Place Delhi are "cheap". He didn't mean cheap like economical, rather he meant they are "sleazy" & are used for call girls, etc. I guess this agent either has a wild imagination or whatever he said has truth to it. Either way, it certainly won't affect my stay at the Park hotel.

Hi New Yorker,

I guess I didn't realize my original post did get posted, but I ended up posting a similar message again.

Anyway, I checked out your tip on the Spice Route Restaurant at the Imperial Hotel. Looks fabulous, I mean the decor. In fact even the Imperial Hotel looks nice, although a little too "English" & conservative for me. But I will certainly make plans to go to the Spice Route. Will let you know how it is. Thanks for the tip

spice route

i love spice route very much , its three best hotel restaurant in delhi ,but new yorker
could you share your experience with me
why not THE MANOR, it also SLH chain (like park hotel), it really a boutique style hotel in all country.
if possible ,at lease a glance
i dont like Rajvilas/jaipur it should be in Las Vegas not india
but lunch or spa will be nice deal
i would suggest Rambagh/Jai mahal or Raj Mahal Palace(another one not Taj chain)
but maybe not good price.
if you choice Rambagh ,my favorite room SAFARI ROOM is all wall-painting room
hope you love it
