Hotel tips after arrival in Mumbai to Pune

Hi,

Does anyone have any tips for lodging when I arrive in the Mumbai airport.
The next day I will be leaving for Pune, with the train I guess.
It is only for sleeping, so it doesn´t have to be expensive, just clean and a save area.

Don't worry, it'll be expensive. Seriously, just ask at the hotel booking counter in the arrivals hall. Tell them what you want and they'll set you up. Pre-paid taxis are there as well.

Use the bookings desk. You can choose by price and location. I have stayed at the Silver Inn and the Ashwin, in Andheri (near airport)--3 stars, clean, air con, 1200 rupees/night.

With the new freeway between Mumbai and Pune, travelling by road is also a good option. It shouldnt take more than 3.0 hours to get from airport to downtown Pune (specially at night).

You may want to consider driving to Pune straight from the Airport (atleast thats what I always do). It also saves you the aggravation of going downtown to VT(CST) to get a train in the morning. The trip from western suburbs (where the airport is) to VT station in the morning, itself will take you an hour.

Hi , there are comfortable luxury buses that cost about Rs 400 from the international airport , which would take u to poona in about 3.5 hrs , check out for the timings @ the airport .there are luxury buses ( called VOLOVO buses )which leave from the city in the morning and costs about Rs 250 ..if you want to stay close to the airport KUMARIA PRESIDENCY near the international airport is a good option .the email is kumaria@bol.net.in u can write to them and ask the traiff ..the Y.W.C.A international in COLABA is a very good place stay ..check their website out www.ywcaic.com the email is ywcaic@bom8.vsnl.net ..if you want cheaper accmodation the SALVATION ARMY HOSTEL , behind the TAJ MAHAL HOTEL in colaba is the place where most backpackers stay ..you can get a prepaid taxi from the airport to COLABA .. COLABA is closer to V.T STATION ( now known as C.S.T)from where you can take a train to poona the next day ( you got to book tickets in advance ) ..but there are quite a few trains from mumbai to poona daily .THE VOLVO bus to poona can be agood option if you do not have a resrvation for the train.. hope this helps .cheers and have fun.

Yes, maybe going straight from the airport to Pune is the best and cheapest option.
I didn't know that the bus will take only 3 to 3,5 hours.
My only trouble is that my airplane will arrive pretty late (around 10:00 in the evening). I don't know if there is a bus available at that time.

If I have to spend the night in Mumbai it is only for sleeping, because I will leave the next day right away, so the cheapest (but clean anyway) and most fast option is the best for me.
