Hotel Railway Mumbai ?

Today in 7 weeks I'll be leaving to India and now I'm looking for a hotel for the first few days in Mumbai. I found this hotel, Hotel Railway and it seems to be ok, not too expensive and in a good location, near CST station, but I don't find any reviews about it. Has anybody stayed there recently and was it ok? Or has anybody got a recomandation for an other hotel in the same area and same price range, and that I can book on the internet?

Hotel Railway is not all that bad but a better option is Residency Hotel in the same area quite near the railway station and on the main road connecting the station and the Fort area of South Mumbai. The prices are about Rs1400 to 1500 for a single AC room and for a double from Rs1500 to 1600. Breakfast is not included in the price but available separately on request. All taxes are included in the rates. Check out my Mumbai page for more details about the city and also about hotels in Mumbai. Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Aadil.

thank you aadil, I already checked out the Residency hotel website before, but it's more expensive than you say. A single AC would be 2000 rps around mid december, the prices on there website are not for december, you only get the right price when you start the booking proces. And if you say the Railway hotel is ok, I think I'll go for that one then, in the end I'm just looking for a simple clean room and it definitely doesn't have to look as luxurious as the Residency.

Hi there,

Well, if you found higher rates at the Residency Hotel then probably try bargaining with them or wherever you are booking!!! You never know when they reduce for lean periods but the rates were the same on the internet when my friends visited last year. Maybe in December the peak season rates are different.

Railway Hotel is also in an OK location near the CST Station and the rates on their website are without taxes so add that to the rates or find out the final price you will have to pay and you will be better off bargaining in person than booking beforehand for all the days you are staying there. Book for only your first night and then bargain once you get here, or you can even look around later on for a cheaper or better alternative if you wish. Did you check out my Mumbai page for more accomodation details in the hotels and accomodation tips? Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Aadil.

Aadil, thanks for sharing that great website of yours. I think I will book a room at the Railway hotel for the first 2 nights and I'll check out the other hotels once I'm in Mumbai.
