Hotel or Guest House in Pushkar
Hello,
we need a Hotel in Pushkar from 22.-24.11. We have asked the inn-seventh heaven, Sajjan Bagh resort and venus holiday resort. They want to have from 1400-1800 Ind. Rup. for a dobble room. Do you think the rates are o.K. or is it better to risk to search a hotel when we arrive ? Which of the 3 hotels is the best ? Can you recommend another guest house (please with email-id) ? Thanks Michaela |

Hello Michaela,
Although Pushkar is becoming one of the most touristic spots in India I still like it a lot and every time i'm in India i try to spend some days there. Pushkar is full of hotel and guest houses, it all depends on your budget. I don't know about the ones you've said, but i'll strongly recommend Krishna Guest House (i think it's in LP). It's cheap (around 250 rp. for a double with attach. bath) and it has a very nice garden to relax. Some rooms are a little bit rough, but some others are really charming, so it's better to check before taking one. The best ones are on the first floor of the entrance side. I don't know when exactly is the Camel Fair going on, but maybe is around this dates... so i think you should book ahead your lodge. Enjoy India!! |

Hill View Hotel
If you wan't a basic backpackers style hotel with a swimming pool (yes... not a tank... an actual swiming pool) why not head to the Hill View Hotel.
During last years Mela I paid 200 rupies for a double room without a toilet (but with a lovely poster on the wall of a swiss style cottage saying "this pity... this true... this pity this this true"... don't ask me what that means... I don't know ;-) After the Mela prices dropped to 50 rupies. I guess there are nicer rooms for a little bit more. If your comming on a local bus from Ajmer, turn left to the main road (the one with cars). The Hill View is behind the hospital. PS: If your comming from Delhi to Pushkar and are having trouble finding a train to Ajmer, a sugest you take a bus from Bikaner House (near India Gate in Delhi) to Ajmer. Prices are around 300 rupies, but the buses are just like the european ones... no broken seats, air conditioned, the best bus I traveled in India. |

While in Pushkar in april of 2002 we stayed at Hotel White House. Nice family, always helpful. A double room with private toilet cost us 250 rupees a night.

You'll be there during the camel fare. From what I've read on previous posts, you can play it safe and book a room at inflated prices, or just show up , take your chances and probably get a better deal. There will be tent cities set up with rooms for rent also.
