Hotel in Shimla near Mall

Hi, I'd like to stay in a hotel close to the Mall in Shimla. If you happen to have or know the internet links for the following hotels in Shimla, it would be really helpful.

Classic - Sangeet - Dalziel - Shingar

Some people have recommended YMCA but I can't find a website either. Would you know if the 'Shimla Youth Hostel' Near Police post in Lakkar Bazar is the same as the YMCA, please?

Thanks for your troubles.

Hi Piri Piri

For Shingar Hotel, please click on the below link:

I stayed at Shingar a couple of years ago and I can definitely vouch for it. Its a good hotel, reasonably priced, the rooms are spacious and clean, centrally located on Mall Road, value for money.

Good luck.

Well, it was an easy link for the Shingar, though I couldn't manage to find it . Anyhow, it was worth asking, the place looks very nice. Thank you so much, Mercurie.

As I said before, I can surely vouch for it. We (me and my family) were very happy staying there and looking forward to do so again during this August, when we visit there. You can go for it. I think from 15 July onwards, they do offer 50% discount on their room rates.

Here's the link for the Hotel Dalziel. I loved this place when I stayed there. It's a short (but steep) walk from the train station, and a short (but steep) walk from there to Scandal Point. The proprietors were very friendly and helpful.

I got Clarke's for $60.00 a few years back, they are quoting $90.00 on their website for current rates - but you might do alot better with an in-house travel agent negotiating for you.

Their rooms and view are worth the splurge!!!

recommed the dalziel
was there in end may stayed in their econmy rooms that is in the annexe down the stairs from the main hotel. Good value for money at 500 for a double room. Please consider that shimla has a water problem and running water is available in most hotels only in the morning same is the case here.snot Noisy good 10 min walk to the mall and couple of minutes from the tara bhojanalay if you want to have a good dhabha food. will recommend the paratha.

regards

Wink

I've just come back to this thread and found your replies. It's like magic, !! I'm taking note of all your tips and advice and I'm writing to the Dalziel. (I'll check that dhaba, thanks Mani).

PeakXV, you show great taste by recommending the Clarke's, unfortunately is too dear for me as I need to keep within a lower budget, as I'm planning for a long trip and many hotels.

By the way, as I was searching for accom. in Shimla I came across the Leela Regency, it looks nice, in case anyone is interested.

Finally, if it's not too much to ask, next place I can't find enough information on is for Leh; somewhere nice with private bathroom close to Ford Rd. Would anyone know the Internet links so I can contact the Bimla hotel or similar, please?

Grącies amics!

Try Sia-La Guest House

This place is an old-time Leh favourite with spacious rooms and very good service. There are seven rooms available.

It is just 10 minutes from the Airport and centrally located. The main market, post office, Indian Airlines, Jet Airways, banks and bus stand are in short walking distance.

Sia-La guesthouse is run by the Siala family. It has one VIP-Suite with balcony and all the rooms have a bathroom with hot & cold water. Sia-La is open in summer and winter. Cable-TV is available in one room which is for common use.

The rooms are between 400 and 1000 rupees per night, depending on season..

Address:
Sia-la Guest House
Fort road
Leh 194101
Ladakh
Tel.: 91-1982-252 821
Email: sia_la@hotmail.com

Hope this helps.

Merc.

I still haven't had any feedback from that nice Shingar Hotel in Shimla, though. Never mind . I'm pleased about the Sia-La.

I'd thought Dubaians weren't allowed to drink it ... but beer it is then.

Even if you dont hear from them, I think you will get the room there, as its a big hotel with many rooms.

In Dubai, only Muslims are not allowed to drink and I am not muslim.

Cheers.
