Hotel in Kalka Could anyone advise me about where I could stay for a night in Kalka? I plan to reach there in the evening (21h30) and take the early morning train to Shimla. I cant seem to find information about hotels in Kalka. Thanks!

Kalka station has a retiring room you can stay in, I think they charge around rs100 its a 1st come 1st serve basis and from what i've heard there are only 2 rooms?. Or you could spend the night in Chandigarh which is no more than 1 hour away from Kalka(by taxi). This is what I did then took a taxi straight to Shimla in the morning 5 hours and cost between rs800-rs3000 depeding on the type of car you want to ride in.

You can stay in Parwanoo, the town in Himachal, right next to Kalka. HP tourism has a hotel there.

| In Kalka also there are several basic hotels near the Railway Station. Sorry ! I don't remember any names.

This worked for me. On the way up I put up in Parwanoo (which is an unpleasant walk from Kalka station, but a quick ride in a taxi). On the way back I found many hotels on the road leading up to the station. We stayed at one about 200 meters away (the first building actually from the station). The hotel isnt that great (no restaurant, so you have to walk to eat) and there isnt much to see about there, but its perfect for a night stop before an early train. I was told these hotels tend to fill up by late evening.
