Hotel in Bhubaneshwar and Puri

I shall be visiting Bhubaneswar and Puri in early January. Can you recommend nice accommodation in those cities?

And Konarak- did they ever manage to bild the fancy beach resort there, and are the li'l state bundalows still there?
BTW- every time I have been to Puri, the beach is FOWL! Human feces, and other yucky stuff everywhere. Am I missing something; is there a clean part of that beach? If not, you'll never find me there, I'm afraid

I have always liked Z Hotel in Puri; it's clean and friendly, and a lot less than Rs 1000.

Pink House in Puri is probably as close as you can get to the beach. They have a nicely located restaurant too.
