hostels for females in delhi and agra

going to be a solo female traveller and was looking for places to stay in both delhi and agra ( ill be in agra only one night). wanted a safe place for a female to stay, and while cheap is good, safe is better.
thanks!

If you have a look through the accommodation thread you're seen lots of recommendations for various hostels, hotels, etc around connaught place and the main railway station. Alternative there's also places like the YHA out towards chanakyapuri (only about 10-15 minutes away from conaught). Keep in mind that its coming into the high season (the YHA has a 3 week waiting list) so depending on what your travel dates are probably a good idea to book as soon as you can.

happy travels.

I stayed at the YWCA three weeks back - it is clean and fine. 1560 rupees including a breakfast for a single room with air conditioning. If you are coming after Nov. 15 or so you won't need a/c and maybe their rate is cheaper then. An excellent restaurant attached and not far from CP and Metro etc.

The Sheela is a good quite and safe place in Agra and is right near the Taj. Pay as you go and don't run up a tab - in tha past items used to get mysteriously added - but no hassle.

Try tourist rest house in agra. 450 rupees per night, one of the cheapest i think. I went with another female friend and we found the place to be safe, clean and with friendly people.
You can mingle around with other travellers in the courtyard.

I've travelled alone in India for a long time; I am always comfortable with a single room with my own bathroom. I don't like to stay in dormitories, though I didn't mind it when I was much younger. You'll be fine travelling alone .. we've got lots of threads here about women travelling alone so search them out!
