Home stay in Hospet/hampi June 2005
Hi,
I am looking for a home stay for one night in Hampi or Hospet on 26th June 2005 night. We are two kids and three adults. Any info or suggestins would be appreciated. The major problem is with the food, the kids have yet got used to the hot indian spicy food (me and my wify loves it though). So if we have a home stay that will make it easier for us to cook some food for them. Thanks Dan |

sorry, cant help you with homestay
but there are plenty of eateries in Hampi that serve non-indian food. I noticed a lot of israeli foods on the menu. I had a yummy italian pasta dish at one of the rooftops restaurants of one of the guesthouses...I forgot the name... but since its just the one night, its probably easier just staying at a guest house and eating out. oh yes, I remember passing two German bakeries too...one on the main bazaar side and on the other side of the river (I recommend staying on the other side of the river - much more shanti). you wont have any problems finding western foods, breakfast (yogurt, omelettes, pancakes) lunch or dinner! |

I would suggest Padma Guest House. This is a house and not a guesthouse. A couple of rooms are rented to tourists. The lady in the house is the incharge. They do serve breakfast dinner etc according to specifi requests. But please note that this is only a small house and howmuch the kitchen (only one) etc can be used according to your needs are to be seen. Also there is no big privacy (you know what i mean if you have alredy stayed in a indian home) as you have to share a lot of common spaces.
I stayed here for a some days and i'm happy with their attitude etc. The lady cant speak very good english (she understands very well), catch hold of her son or daugheter (when thay are back from school) to tell any specific things. Located at the street just opp tothe hampi bus station. Just walk from the bus station (100 meters). The charged me arround 200rs a day (24 hrs). their contacts no is 08394 - 241331 or 241330. (pm me if you want their email id, if not sure it is ok to put it here) In case if you are not able to get accomodation try the house just opp to it (dont remember the mame). There are a couple of houses more. But all are very basic homes. I wonder, your children will have more trouble with the climate in june than the food ?? Also dont forget to read my 'gigantic' post on Hampi: Everthing you want to know at the Karnataka sub forum , some thing may be useful to your tour here. |

Hi,
thanks for the info, i will call them right away. i do understand the heat could be a problem, but hey, one can not have it all, smiles. As far as the privacy is concerned, i think we will be ok there, since its just one day stay. But more over, i am a very simple guy, i can even sleep under the sleep or even on the pavement. thanks daniel |

june is practicaly a lean season in hampi. Or you can just arrive at the site and do a small search in that locality for the 'right' house. But 2 days are not enough for hampi! |

lols, I did actually stay a night at Padma GH! hmm..didn't think of it as a homestay but it surely is in a private house
I second beach's recommendation. the lady there is really nice. there is also a small veranda where you can lounge around and a rooftop restaurant (lacking atmosphere but alright). |

have at least 2 full days, at least. 4 days are decent enough.
I mean just for sight seeing... you need stay 4+ days to realy enjoy the place's mystery! |
