Question heading to kerala...looking for huts/bungalows and the like

hello there.
hoping someone can help...
my husband and i are planning a month long trip to kerala and we'd like to find some low key, budget huts or bungalows to stay in.
i'm returning after 10 years and so much has changed. would be so grateful if anyone has recommendations.
thanks in advance.
namaste...samx

I'm afraid that for most of that type of accommodation you'll find for Kerala on the Internet will be expensive - that's Kerala! If you have the time, why don't you find a cheapish hotel for a couple of nights(you will find one if you search thoroughly) and then ask around - you'll normally find many people who have, or know of someone who has a hut, bungalow or something similar to let - and you are NOT always charged over the odds for it. You can always say that you've found them too expensive on the Internet and want something acceptable, but cheaper. It worked for me (UK, female, travelling alone) and I got one a year back for about the equivilant of about 12$ a night, with bathroom/wc, kitchenette, one bedroom and a lounge with a put you up sofa in it too - TV, fridge, cooker (you pay for gas)and it was great altogether. I just asked at a place I went to to get a tiffn one afternoon!
