good RESORT
hi,
i would like to send my parents to a good resort, anywhere in India, to relaxxxx. It can be during any month of the calendar. What i am looking for is that they can relax there , rooms should be very good, food should be hygenic and there should be lots of activities there like pool, garden, and like. I want them to relax atleast there for 5 days atleast. It would be an added advantage if the resort people will arrange for a sight seeing and shoping , i mean conveyance. And it should not make a big hole in my pocket (as i will be doing all this) So u all there, travelling masters/experts might have been to such a place , i would like you to share ur experiences of that ideal resort and how much it cost . thanks, i hope to get expertise advises/experiences/suggestions as it want to make it a ultimate DREAMS for my parents. [for info : - my parents have seen almost all major cities of India from Kashmir to Kannayakumari and Dwarka to Calcutta, so i would like u to concentrate on good atmosphere and not on popular places unless some good resort or like is there.]

the beautiful south
Not sure what your parents are interested in, but Jungle Hut and others in Masinagudi TN, Kabini River Lodge in Karnataka, and resorts in Kumarakom (Kerala) are beautiful and relaxing.

Kerala has some nice Ayurvedic Spas... like Somatheeram and Isola Di Cocco. I stayed at Isola di Cocco and it was wonderful. Beautiful bungalows (get one with an outdoor attached bathroom), great massages, nice beach but very heavy waves, nice pool... great food. It's in a place called Poovar Island.
www.isoladicocco.com www.somatheeram.com It is best if you go in winter... Dec/Jan are best months. |

Nirola,
Many amongst us have similar queries about finding the perfect resort destination for self or parents. I usually refer to www.indiaresortssurvey.com/ for comments and reviews. Hope this site would be useful. One place I recently visited was the Shringeri Math of Shankararacharya on the banks of river Tunga in Karnataka. The ashram is simply beautiful, amidst plantations and rolling hills. It is closer to Udipi/Manipal than Bangalore. |

nirola,
I really enjoyed The Mayfair Resort in Darjeeling. It's a beautifully restored maharaja's palace with coal fireplaces in each room. Staff come around and light the fire for you at night. There's high tea at 3:00 every day and the staff, who are wonderful, will organize site seeing trips for you. It was a little expensive at 6000 rupees a night in the heritage wing (includes all three meals), but totally worth it for a special occassion. Actually, the website doesn't do it justice. The Mayfair |

southern comfort
I've just come back from Tamil Nadu where I stayed at two excellent resorts that I would recommend without hesitation. about 7 km south of Pondicherry, the Kailash Beach Resort http://www.kailashbeachhotel.com/en/howto.htm and 10 km east of Thanjavur the Ideal River View Resort http://www.idealresort.com
(They also have one at Mahabalipuram). Both have beautiful gardens, splendid pools, and stunning settings. The restaurants can be very good, especially when they prepare things not on the menu! The rooms at the kailash are very basic, but comfortable and furnished in rustic good taste. The Ideal proposes two types of rooms, normal and luxury. The normal was just fine. |

Mayfair in Darjeeling is nice. Some friends of mine have one resort up in Sikkim, no pool. The Bamboo resort. Great view, and they arrange trips, treks and bike tours. http://www.sikkim.ch/bamboo-resort.html

All-inclusive resort
Hello,
I am travelling to India throughout December with a friend, and we were wanting to end our trip at a resort as a final treat to ourselves. We were looking for an all-inclusive resort (accommodation, all meals and drinks) - we found the Heritage Club Village in Goa and also Hotel Silvrestine in Shimla who offer all inclusive packages. We will probably stay here just after Christmas to New Years Day so we understand it will be more expensive than usual. We are wanting to spend a max of around 4,000rps pp per night but could go a little higher if the place was spectacular. Could people tell me if they know whether any of the resorts listed above offer all-inclusive packages or if they know any others? ![]() We are flexible with our destination - I suppose as we will be there at New Years it would be nice if there were a few others around, but we don't mind beach, mountains or otherwise ![]() Edit: Eek, I have been reading on other forums about how all inclusive package people are perceived as awful!! To let you know our aim is not to lie around and get drunk all the time, but we do like the idea of winding down from what is bound to be a very intense journey through india! We are looking for beautiful locations liable to attract friendly people...maybe all-inclusive is not the best way! Many of these resorts seem very expensive though! |
