Finding Hotel on Arrival
Finding Hotel on Arrival
Finding a hotel from the internet is hard, has anyone tried arriving in India without a prebooked hotel? How hard is it to find a hotel on arrival?
Much depends on when & where you visit, peak season or slack season for that place, what time you arrive, landing in the middle of the night from an International flight with jetlag fogging your brain and trying to find a room may not be a good idea.
For internal travels reaching a town early in the morning you can always find some accomodation. Moving with heavy luggage might pose a problem. Be prepared to be hassled by touts.

Most arrivals from the US and Europe are in the wee small hours of the night; every taxi driver at the airport will battle to take you to their friend's hotel -- you will have to beat them off when you're sleep and jet-lagged.
Better to book a hotel for the first night or two, and give yourself a chance to find a good one. Use the pre-paid taxi booth for a fixed price taxi (keep the receipt until you get to your destination) or book an airport pickup as well. It's worht whatever it costs!

The only hotels I pre-book are for the first night I arrive. It's no fun fumbling for a hotel in the wee hours of the morning. Outside of the city I just show up. You find the best rates along with the option to see rooms in person first. Go with a list of possibilities in each town. This will speed up the process if you have an idea of names, locations and rates.
