You ain't kidding. That *is* an extensive list. Mostly it's the higher-end hotels, but that's fine. For budget travelers I think the best bet is still to hunt in the area around the bus or railway station. There's always a flea-bitten dive within a few steps.

It doesn't give prices, instead you have to fill in all the details to send to your chosen hotel and give your 'Approximate Budget in US $', not a good way to do business.
Very few have websites, all the ones that do seem to have indiamart web addresses. One that made me laugh though: - Quote:

Yep Steven quite right... most of the websites are indiamart... but some descriptions are better than none at all.
I've made a few enquiries but left the budget entry blank... am waiting on the results so will let you know how I get on. Am almost tempted to fill a whole load up and see what sort of rates I get and how much they vary from the tariff. I can't find many places below 900Rs per room... but it really depend on what budget you are on... I am sure there must be a quite a few reasonable places at 300Rs or so, I personally would pay the extra money if it does mean having less hassle. |

you guys can always use hostels.com, go through the reviews, get the addresses, and then just wing it when you get in to town. but don't be stupid and pay the US$5 commission that site assesses.

And here's a list of hotels in Delhi recommended by Airports Authority of India. Includes prices, telephone numbers and status [2-5 star] .
http://www.airportsindia.org.in/aai/igi/city_info.htm [scroll down the page] Then there's a Hotel search on the website of Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India http://www.fhrai.com/hotelsrch.asp |
