Delhi Hotel - reserve or not reserve

Arrive Delhi Early AM Jan 17/11
Want to stay in Karol Bagh or Paharganj

Question? Should I book something in advance (likely requiring a deposit) or just find something when I get there. On the one hand, it would be nice to have something already, but if they end up giving you a hard time or a dumpy room you don't have a lot of bargaining power. If I just "wing it" at least I can see the room first or haggle a bit.

Thoughts?

how early is early am? I am assuming your flight arrives as mine have from Canada at 1 or 2 am - meaning you will hit Pharanganj around 3 am..not the best time to find a place to stay, not impossible but not a great time.

I would recomend you book a room for the first night (maybe 2) and then get up first thing and do some scouting for a different option if needed.

Should be out of the airport by about 5am, and only staying 2 nights before heading off to Jaisalmer

You will be at Pahargunj latest by 6 AM, that's not a problem and you need not book a room as you can first inspect the room and then hire it.
