dehli cheap guesthouse req.
i'm arriving in delhi late at night and want inexpensive (i'm talking just a place to sleep) accommodation. also somewhere EASY to find. any suggestions?? probably would want to e-mail in advance and book if possible
You will find some Delhi hotels and guest houses listed in the "Hotel Listings" section of this forum which have been recommended by members on indiamike. Many of them also arrange a pick up from the airport if that's how you are arriving.
If none of these suit you could try the Anoop in Paharganj which also does airport pick up. A room is about 300 rupees.

What a long strange trip it's been!
I suppose that's true. %^*&^ and even *@+?*& are on offer on the streets of Paharganj. The cops seem to turn a blind eye to this except when someone OD's in a hotel room.
I don't use either of them myself and have never felt that Paharganj was an unsafe area except during the extremist bombing campaign of some years ago.

I can only say : "('àè§ and $ùµ=:; ,
though maybe &é"é&".

Pahargangj area is safe..don't worry
Hotel Star View (a little further down the road) is also in Paharganj, I found its rooms to be nicer than the Anoop's and not much more expensive. If you want the contact details PM me and I'll look for their business card when I get home.
Either way, I don't think taxis can go down main bazaar (or they just don't), so get dropped off at either end and walk through, it's not very far. If you get lost just ask a fellow traveller for directions - almost any time of night there will be someone wandering around in Paharganj!
It's only one street though so if you're walking from one end you should be able to spot it on your own.

If you wish to stay at the Anoop the address is 1566 Main Bazaar.
They also do a pick up service from the airport which will only cost you a few dollars more than an airport taxi, drop you at the hotel and save you any hassle from a touting taxi driver.
If you decide to take an airport taxi then you will probably be dropped, as guerik says, at either end of Paharganj. If it's the New Delhi Station end then walk west up Paharganj until you come to an open space and a road leading off left. Go straight on for about 50 meters and Anoop is on the right.
If you are dropped at the other end near the Metropolis Hotel then it's a short walk of about a 100 meters just after the cinema on the left hand side.
