Vedniketan

Vedniketan, the bright orange building at the end of the road once you cross the footbridge before Lakshman Jhula. Turn right after you cross the footbridge & head straight ahead. You cannot miss it! We stayed 10 nights in April 2006 for 150r's a night. You can hear and see the magic Mother Ganges if you get a room at the front! Good luck!

Parmath Niketan comes highly recommended - especially their eveing Arti. Booking may be tough.

Shivananda Ashram ... and plenty more. You have a week to explore and decide where to stay after you have to shift out of Dayananda Ashram.

We were walk-ins. It was not peak time. I'd google for phone number if I was returning there just to ensure one of the top floor rooms overlooking the Ganges, was vacant. Really magic view! Basic accommodation, hard lumpy mattresses, bucket hot water, nice friendly staff, lovely relaxed atmosphere with several serious yogis and some serious students of yoga. (You don't need to be any of these!) The management seemed happy to have us and we observed their no meat or alcohol rule. It was difficult for my partner to not even eat eggs but we both felt so good after our time at Vedniketan. Good luck!
