Anyone heard of Annes Residency in Fort Cochin

Hi
Has anyone heard of Annes Residency in Fort Cochin, couldnt find a mention of it online. A hotel that was booked up booked us in but would like to find out something about it before we commit. Staying in Cochin from 4 - 7th Jan and most of the usual places are booked out.
Any recommendations?

sorry, haven't heard of that one, have you tried Fort House?

I really liked it there and the food was fab. If you can't stay there, try and eat there. They serve the best fish dishes in Fort Kochi. They are listed in the hotel listings section, but their tel number and email address has changed.

I have no information at all about Anne's residency, but I am chiming in anyway to add something to what Natrah said about the fish meals in Fort Cochin.

My wife is a fish fancier, and, naturally enough, India is not famous for its fish dishes, so when we arrived in Fort Cochin and saw fish featured on just about every menu, she was overjoyed. That is, until we just happened to stroll down to the water (we were trying to find which inlet the ferry came in at) and found ourselves in an area that seems to be "off-limits" to tourists (like so many interesting places we saw in India, we just sort of blundered into this one), and the sight that met our eyes -- and the smell that assailed us -- made her rethink her menu choices. The water in this particular inlet was literally full of dead, floating, stinking fish. Dozens more were lying on the bank, where the seagulls were busy picking them open. What killed all these fish? We have no idea, but, whatever it was, we made up our minds that anything that came out of that water would not find its way onto our dinner plate!

Maybe we just came along on a bad day, but before you order seafood in Fort Cochin, go for a stroll along the water's edge!

Place to Stay in Fort Cochin

Hi Clairet

I've driven past Anne's Residency but haven’t stayed or dined there - there are just so many places to dine at in Fort Cochin. I'll make a point of dropping in on my next visit though.

I've just come back from a 9 day stay in Cochin and stayed for a few nights at the Raintree Lodge - it's a recently refurbished, privately owned small hotel which offers basic luxuries us travellers look for - clean accommodation and a great location. Raintree lodge is listed in Indiamike - http://www.indiamike.com/india/listi...g&l istid=321. Edgar, the owner, also arranged airport pick-up/drop off and arranged a driver who didn’t cost the earth. Why don’t you check his listing and contact him to see if he can help.

You'll enjoy the book stores, art cafes, antique shops, boat rides etc. and fresh food. And you'll be walking distance from internet cafes/supermarket etc. This has been my third trip back to Cochin this year. I would recommend a good pair of sandals/shoes as walking is a nice treat. Good luck.

Anns residency is situated in fort cochin near to Malabar House residency and Fort House. It is a two floried normal new house converted into hotel, having 6 double rooms. the rooms are clean and people are also nice. but u dont have much view from the rooms. but to get rooms in the nearby hotels are not that easy during beginning of january. so if you wish to stay in fortcochin, it is better to book anns residency now or you can look for some other hotels in marine drive, Ernakulam.
