Anybody stay in these hotels/Opinion about Travel agency...

A freind of mine in Zurich is going on a Golden Triangle tour with this agency

Indian Travel Consultant,
App by Dept of Tourism Govt of India
www.indiantravelconsultant.com
www.destinations-india.com

Anybody have any experience with this group.

Some of the hotels she will be staying at.

She is traveling alone and want to make sure from my end (remotely) that she will be okay. Seems like she will have a private car and driver and even English speaking guides etc.

If anybody has any experience with the agency or at the hotels please do reply. Thanks

The websites of the Hotels are:

Agra --- Hotel Pushpvillas www.hotelpushpvilla.com

Jaipur --- Hotel Glitz www.hotelglitzjaipur.com

Delhi ---- Hotel Blue bell www.hotelbluebell.com

I've stayed at Pushp Villas. It's OK, clean and decent rooms. The lobby's much nicer than the rooms are, as usual. Rooms at the back have dirty windows. Well, ours did. The rooms at the front are better- ask her to make sure that's what she's getting.

Don't know the other two. Have you tried TripAdvisor.com?

As a general tip rooms can vary greatly within the same hotel so if she's unhappy with one, ask for another.

As for safety in hotels, well don't panic is the first thing. Then some good suggestions I've heard are to bring a door-stopper, a personal alarm (apparently you can get one that you can put on the door which will sound if the door is opened- Khandoma mentioned it somewhere...?) and don't leave the window open!

Nick mentioned a bath plug as a door stopper recently! sounds a good idea...Most good hotels however have bolts on the inside of their doors and these should do the trick. I don't know any of these hotels, sorry. I don't think it is the hotel she need worry about - if the travel company where the driver is originating from is a long-standing, reputable one she should be fine. Recently I spoke to a driver from such a company bringing a single lady to Jaisalmer and the lady was the problem for him!!
Much too friendly for his liking and suggestive, I had to agree with him after meeting the lady! I actually felt sorry for the poor fellow who wasn't at all interested in her. You don't often hear stories like this but it does go on quite a bit with foreign women coming here for 'ahem!'I might add this man was a good example of perfect ethics as far as his reputation and work for the company was concerned and I'm sure there are many others like him.

Thanks. I will sure tell pass on the messages. From the reviews I have seen on the Travel Agent website it looks all legit but I just want to be careful. I dunno know when somebody is going to India am extra careful as if my personal rep depended on it. I will give her some emergency numbers of freinds of freinds of freinds that stay in the area.

No I didn't! I mentioned it as a bath plug! But it was in a thread about security. They stop people coming up the plug hole.

I found this really interesting article about a young tout's lovelife with foreign tourists, I'll have to dig it out. It happens more than anybody seems willing to admit to.

Perhaps you should post this driver's details? Sounds like a great guy.

LOL Nick! It's a driver working for a Delhi travel company and i have to confess I have forgotten his name. If anyone really wants it they can PM me and I can try to get it for them via contacting the travel company. But as I mentioned previously if you are using a long-standing travel concern with drivers who have been in their employment for quite a while, then there should not be any trouble. I've heard of Destinations India - which looks like a branch of Indian Travel Consultant. I looked at the Rajasthan Desert tour and can see they are staying at some very nice places. I think this company looks fine to me, seems to be well established (10 years), so I think should be o.k.
