Question Andamans - Havelock

Please can anyone tell me about where to stay on Havelock Island - I've been looking at Wild Orchid beach resort on Havelock Island and/or Barefoot Cafe Del Mar beach huts? Any comments/advice on either of these (which is better?) or other cool places to stay on the island?

Or.....any suggestions of an even better island to stay on?

Also, what's the deal on sandflies?

Thanks,

Havelock Hotels

In Port Blair go to the tourist office run by the Dept of Tourism, they have their Hotel in Havelock, book ur room with them.

When I went to Havelock, I did stay at Wild Orchid though which I regret, the Govt. Tourist Hotel was just 2 minutes walking distance from Wild Orchid as we were not sure about it booking formalities and location we did not book there, so we missed the hotel.
We checked into Wild Orchid and curiosity sake we went to the Govt. Tourist Hotel, and u wont believe, the rooms were much bigger than that of W.O they had CTV and AirCn in the rooms at almost half the rate of W.O. The premises is huge and very clean. Their food was just O.K, but it is not compulsory to have u r food their, u can have anywhere else, so u can stay at the Govt Hotel and have ur food in W.O.

I stayed on Radha Nagar on Havelock in the gorgeous tents. It was truly beautiful but the sandflies were a nightmare.I think we discovered a pattern about when they were at their worst, cant remember if it was morning or evenings or both but you'll work it out. Still have the scars on my legs though.

Can anyone tell me the distance between Beach no. 5, 3 and 7. e.h. Can I stay on beach no.5 and easily commute to beach 3 and 7? and are all beaches easily accessible from the ferry-port?

Secondly, is Dolphin Yatri Niwas available for non-indian citizens.

Thanks,

Amit
