AMRITSAR - SVAASA Spa/Hotel - have you stayed there?
Hi,
Has anyone stayed at this 250 year old heritage hotel in Amritsar? We're booked at the Ritz Plaza and feel it may be too impersonal and without character. Thanks |

I am from Asr, and Hotel Ritz Plaza is not that bad. It is located on the busy yet calm and serene Mall Road. The Ebony shopping mall is just opposite to Ritz with a lot of shopping options and restaurants serving Indian Delicacies. Believe me, there isn't much fun staying in a heritage hotel in Asr -except if you like regretting after spending a huge amount of money on hotel rent for nothing.
Rather pay a visit and spend some quality time in Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh, Wagah Border, Durgiana Temple (Mandir) etc. Beware of touts in and around (Outside) The Golden Temple - Jallianwala Bagh area. These both places are located at a walking distance of just 7-8 minutes from each other. For great North Indian Vegetarian food, check out "Bhrawan Da Dhaba" (The Brothers Restaurant)...near Nagar Nigam Complex. It is just 10-15 minutes ride from the Golden Temple on a Cycle Rickshaw that shouldn't charge you anything more than Rs 10-15. For shopping for clothes, you may also check out the Hall Bazar (On way to Golden Temple) and ask your driver to make a stop around the "Katra Jaimal Singh" Area. You may also consider booking an AC room in Golden Temple at a very nominal cost. It used to be only Rs 50 around 3-4 years ago. Also, the 250 year old hotel you have mentioned, wasn't always a hotel. It was some old home on the Mall Road (I used to pedal my way through it to my school everyday) which is now converted into a Hotel) Let me know if you need any more info. |

spa ANANDA
If you are looking for a spa hotel then it will be a disappointment, i would suggest visit ANANDA-In the Himalayas if you are really looking for a spa, though it is a costly affairs Rs.21000 for a couple for 2 nights/3 days. Try to visit www.anandaspa.com
have fun! xebecindia

Ranjit Svasa is an interesting, picteresque boutique hotel with good hospitality, they are v helpful. the rooms are comfortable, large, well done, totally enjoyed staying there. had only a bit of poor service at breakfast. a little slow but not much else to complian about, Infact everything else was great.
