Am planning a trip to Goa in the next couple of weeks, can anyone recommend a cool, chilled out place to stay, prob no more than 800rupees per night.

Thanks

Contrary to popular belief, Goa is a state, not a city or a small island. It is as if you were asking for a place (any place) to stay in Rajasthan or Tamil Nadu or Himachal.

I am going to Goa on this Friday, 27th November and will be there till 30th. Please suggest me some cheap hotels or I have heard that paying guest also be there, so, some cheap places to stay.....we will be eight people and do not mind staying 4 in a room provided space is there and is clean.......n I have no idea but expect some 300-400 per person for a night.....is that a feasible cost? Hope to get some insights.

Hi fellow Brisso Nate - tariffs vary a lot by location. The package tourist hellholes like Candolim, Calangute and Baga will be far more expensive. Extreme north or south or off the coast much cheaper.

December and January prices are higher and accomodation can be tight. Away from the more package touristy spots, I'd target 300-400 at the bottom for Anjuna/ Vagator and north to Arambol. Similar for the southern beaches.

You need to target your location for an enjoyable time. I like the northern strip - you could try Mandrem or Arambol. Manjunaths guesthouse at Arambol is cheap and basic, but cheerful.

Where do you arrive in Goa - airport or rail station? This might have a bearing as well as your expectations of accomodation standards.

Dear All, I went to Goa on 27th Friday Evening and came back this morning on 1st December. We were eight people and stayed in Hotel Falcon Resort near Calangute Beach......Not near beach but little far in fact. They charged us 1500 Rs per day for 4 people. (30 USD per night per room for 4 people) Resort was decent and okay. If u need contact address, i have its card and number, I can send you. About my trip, stay and photos, I will write more later.

Manjunaths is likely to be full Dec - Feb. Its at the corner of beach road near the taxi-rank (looks terrible from the front). If you follow the road all the way from Arambol village (where the chemist and busstand) is, past the church and school etc - its a the corner where the road turns 90 degrees and "tourist" Arambol begins.
