hi welcome to rajasthan

if you are looking a inexpensive hotel you should go for Rising Sun Retreat or hotel shikhar (RTDC) at mount abu and for udaipur hotel Rang Niwas or Hotel Kajari (RTDC).

enjoy your holidays.

Hi, I didn't manage to get to Mt. Abu, However I stayed in a gr8 place @ Lal Ghat ( excellent position ) called "Jaiwana Havelli" It is run by a lovely family; who I've kept in touch with. The rooms are clean, safe and range from 400rup - 2000rup and this was during their peak season over Christmas. Highly recommended!!!

Island Tower View Guest house

I stayed in the Island Tower View Paying Guest house in Udipar. I had the top room with panaramic views of the city. It was only 150 rupees I think (i'll double check). It was an awasome place to stay. We had our own shower and tolet. It was extreamly cheap and nice. I watched the sun rise every morning from the roof top wich boasted beatiful views of the city and of the lake palace. I highly recomend it!!!!

Hi Janesterizer

Udaipur
The lake Pichola in Udaipur is looking beautiful as it has got ample of water after a long time! So you must consider staying near to lake. There are several Guest houses but I will not recommend them

I personally like Amet ki Haveli Hotel http://www.traveludaipur.com/ametkihaveli.htm
It has a great Restaurant right on the bank of Lake giving marevelous view of Lake Palace, City Palace and Lake itself!

I think the tariff is quite reasonable too

Mount Abu
Palace Hotel also known as Bikaner House is great to be there! if you can afford
Kesar Bhawan is also nice place with lower tariff.

Mount Abu is basically mean for domestic Tourists so in budget segment you'll have few so called modern hotels like Chaha Inn, but I'll not recommend them.

Hope this helps

Don't expect to find accom. in Mt Abu very easily in August without a reservation.

Of course, I arrived there at 11pm...and if I may be excused for telling an associated story - while looking for some place to stay I wandered down an isolated road, and a boy materialized out of the fog to tell me "nothing there - only jungle!".

ACCOMMODATION IN Mt ABU

Hi Wannalearn,
I found your posting useful. Is it possible to have the postal address of Bikaner House,or any other decent place near the Nakki Lake, please? I would rather reserve some place than turned down with nowhere to go. Thanks.

Hi there!

You should try for this very homely heritage Hotel called UdaiGarh. about a kilometer from Nakki Lake and very peaceful. Would not recommend to stay right on the lake as its very crowdy.

Hi - I used to research for one of the major guidebooks, and one thing became clear for Udaipur, if not many other places: there are some amazing bargains in some really nice places to be found by searching for hotels NOT in Lonely Planet. Just because they are not in the guidebook does not necessarily mean they are sub-standard - it can also mean they are new, or recently re-furbished, or down a side-street that the researcher never found. One place I like is the Mona Lisa, which is central and very pleasant.

Udaipur Hotels

I stayed in Jagat Niwas in December and I was so pleased with this hotel, it was reasonably priced. It was in a brilliant location - overlooking the lake. The staff were excellent and the food was great, overall this place definitely sticks in my mind.
