White Water Rafting in Ladakh

Hi Guys,


Lot many IMers are heading to Ladakh this time and I am sure that many would be interested in activites other than site seeing of Nubra, Pangong and Tso moriri.

So as an option lets start a thread where we can get info on Rafting in Ladakh Region.

Please give details like Route, No. of days, rough costing and contact of agencies that conduct these trips.

So calling all the experienced IMers for their valuable inputs.

I am not sure if you can river raft in ladakh.

i know it is possible in Himachal and Uttaranchal and Nepal.
Rishikesh is good for white river rafting.

May be its done in Zanskar but that isn't very far from ladakh.

Zanskar and Indus River Rafting Expedition
Duration : 14 Days - 13 Nights
Places Covered :
Delhi- Leh - Lamayuru - Kargil - Rangdum - Phey - Karsha - Pidmu - Nyerak - Markha - Kaya - Skiu - Nimu-Saspul - Leh-Delhi

Rafting is def. possible in Ladakh. But only for 3 - 4 months unlike Uttaranchal where it is possible for majority of the months.
It can be done on Indus & Zanskar rivers.
However as mentioned by navin the Zanskar expedition in for many days & also it costs around Rs. 60K - Rs. 80K per person.
One days rafting can be done on following routes.
Near Hemis - Phey
Phey - Nimmu
Nimmu - Saspol
They are much cheaper.

Any idea how much these One day rafting costs? Also who organizes them? Do the local travel agents of leh organize them?

The first & second route should cost about Rs. 900 - Rs. 1000 per person. No idea about the third one.

Yes the local travel agents organize rafting trips.
