when will manali -leh road open this summer

hi, i just called up himachal tourism office in delhi ,and manali and they both gave different verison of when road will open. delhi office said it will open somewhere ard second week of july ,where as manali office said it will oepn around first week of june. manali office went on to say that rohtang pass is opening in a day or two.they said that bookings for manali -leh bus have started to come.
anyone any idea where can we get more precise information as to when the road is likely to get through..may be a rough idea,a cou0ple of days here and there.

Both the versions are true...

I called up Leh and found out that the Leh - Manali road will be "released" to the public on the 20th May. That means all private buses / cars / bikes can start plying from then on. However, Himachal Tourism buses ONLY ply on that route when the road is "officially open"... and that is fixed at July 10th to September 15th every year. Even when the road is all clean in April (like it was last year) Himachal Tourism busses only ran on the route between the above mentioned dates.

So both of them are right at their own place.

Getting to Leh from Manai, according to the information I have got, should not be a problem at all within a couple of weeks. I hope it is true... all fingers and toes crossed...

@ vishant: Absolutely perfect details provided.Since i remember last year i went to leh in June and i never came across a single bus on leh manali road while going or coming back.
Now it makes absolute sense to me why i never witnessed a Leh Manali tourism Bus.
