... in and around Ladakh, that you wished you'd stayed longer, or that you should've stopped.
Note: I'm a biker and my koshun is from the perspective of being at a place at a particular time (magnetic hill in morning, sunset at pangong etc etc) or short trek up/down for a particular view (say of the roads/valley below). What would be that #1 place for you? Mucho thanks in advance for your replies. Disclaimers: This thread is not for self promotion or any such bunkum. This thread is only to enrich my Ladakh ride, and take a couple of Wow pics. Pics that are out of the ordinary - stuff that's more than what one sees on the highways. Do mention altitudes of relevant places/terrain but let's not have it degenerate into another AMS discussion. |

If it has to be accessible by bike, I would say Yangthang in the early morning in July, when the sun illuminates the green barley fields just above the village. The hamlet lies between Likir and Temisgoan, north of the main Indus valley.

Thanks for this suggestion.
Even a 2 hour trek would do. What then? ![]() |

I liked the hike from Rizong Gompa to Hemis Shakpachen (west of Leh, not to be confused with the big gompa south of the Indus), or from Hemis Shakpachen to Temisgoan. None of them are circuits though, which means you'll have to come the same way back or catch a bus to get back to Leh.
I've heard there are also nice hikes up from Hemis (the famous gompa) to smaller shrines higher up where you can turn around whenever you want. Or what should also be nice is up the hillsides from Alchi, to Tsatsapun Gompa on the way to Stakspi La (though again I haven't done that myself). - Carsten |

There was this one place....
Saar,
In Ladakh, each moment is a visual treat in itself... starting from when you just pass Rohtang and all the mountains greet you... At Tanglang la, the view is fantastic... The journey from Chumathang to Hanle is a paradise... When leaving...??
