What roads and activities in June

Hi all

I will be spending 2 months in Ladakh from mid-april to mid June, most of which I will stay in Leh region and maybe volunteer, take walks,.. and just enjoy life in the Himalayas out of tourist season. I've already been to Ladakh, and I just want the peace of the mountains to paint, write and reflect. Maybe I'll go to some monasteries, but I don't need much to be happy.

There is a possibility my sister could come and join me the last week of May and 2 first of June. As it would be her first time in Ladakh, will we be able to, at that time of year, visit various places such as Nubra, the Indus valley monasteries, Pangong... Basically will weather permit us to get a bit out of the Leh region, or is it not worth her coming at that time of year for her first visit of Ladakh?

Thanks for your help
Ekat

I am assuming that you are flying into Leh which should be fine. So long as you are not planning trips out of Leh in April, I guess, it should be ok.

Also by last week of May, when your sister arrives, tourist season must have set it. Its related with opening of road passes from Srinagar (Jozilla pass) and Manali (Rohtang pass) and both should be hopefully open by end may. This year (2007), Rohtang pass opened around 13 May and Jozilla about a week early. So given the trends of whether over last couple of years, your trip seems fine.
