via Manali or srinagar?

Hi all
We are a couple aged 52 and 62 .We would like to visit Leh in June or July 2010.Want to ask the experts which route is better from Delhi to get to Leh. Want to take it as slow as possible so as not to be sick. Which route will be more impressive and /or comfortable for us?

Manali leh is very beautiful. But how do you plan to travel, by private jeep? Or else the pace gets dictated by the public transport. And mine was crazy.

Srinagar-Leh is the easiest way to shift up to Leh´s altitude, and has more Buddhist culture sights along the way : Lamyuru is definitely an impressive site, and Alchi should not be missed.

Manali-Leh has the most impressive natural scenery. Plan this route well , many miss out on what happens from altitude effects as you touch the same altitude as Everest Base Camp.

I think we will hire car and driver, maybe together with other people. We are at the moment only at the early planning stage :-)
is the way from Srinagar safe?
