Trying to get from Leh to Dharamsala/Mcleod Ganj

I am trying to get from Leh to Dharamsala/Mcleod Ganj with the best balance of speed and budget. Any ideas?

My research on the site has so far suggested:

1) Taxi for 8200 rupees.

2) Bus from Leh to Kargil to Sringar (if this exists -- I read one place the road is one direction, from Sringar to Leh only -- any knowledge about this?) and then Sringar to Dharamsala.

3) Fly Leh to Amritsar (if such a flight exists --anyone know?) and then bus Amristar to Dharam./McLeod

Any other possibilities or guidance on these 3?

From where ? This too much for a shared taxi , and too little for a single person ride - Leh-Manali is in the 12+ k ballpark.

Buses , shared taxis ("jeeps" ) run both directions Srinagar-Leh in high season , at the tail end there is traffic in one direction on alternating days. Srinagar ( and Amritsar etc. ) is a loong way to the west though.

Hard , fast run to Dhasa : cannonball run Leh-Manali (around 20 hours, Rs 1000-1400 ) , then bus Manali- Dharamsala , around ten hours/Rs 400. Check hptdc.nic.in or redbus.in for bus details

Take a shared taxi or a bus from Leh to Srinagar, from Srinagar take a bus to Pathankot. From Pathankot you can easily get a taxi/bus to Dharamshala.

I wouldn't just take speed and budget into consideration, but also what's the most enjoyable.

Overland by jeep (Leh-Manali) is very much recommended! The landscape is spectacular. Everyone visiting this region should make this trip, IMO.

...and please keep it coming if anyone else has other ideas. AS for the jeep run from Leh to Manali -- any recommendations on how to best hook up with the jeep? At this point, I think it's my best bet!
