Trip to Heaven - Kashmir & Ladakh
Hello Friends,
We are finalising our trip plan for Kashmir and Ladakh. We will be reaching Srinagar on 21 August and would like to explore Kashmir Valley for 5-6 days before venturing in Ladakh.
As of now this is our plan for Ladakh (visiting for the first time hence planning to visit all famous places)
26 August - Srinagar to Kargil
27 August - Kargil to Rangdum
28 August - Rangdum to Kargil
29 August - Kargil to Leh
30 August - Leh Permits, Local Sightseeing
31 August - Leh to Nubra, Overnight stay at Nubra
01 September - Nubra to Pangong, Overnight stay at Pangong
02 September - Pangong to Hanle, Overnight stay at Hanle
03 September - Hanle to TSO Moriri, Overnight stay at Korzok
04 September - Korzok to Sarchu / Jispa
05 September - Sarchu / Jispa to Manali
Now I have few queries.
1) Does the plan look feasible? Will there be lot of interruptions due to rain? How will be the weather during the day generally?
2) We would like to stay overnight at Diskit, Pangong TSO and TSO Moriri. Any recommendations for decent Family accomodation at Diskit, Pangong TSO and TSO Moriri?
3) If we start from TSO Moriri at 8 AM, which is the best place to halt for overnight stay on Leh - Manali route? We would prefer not to travel too much in the dark as we don't want to miss the scenic beauty of Leh Manali highway?
4) We want to avoid too much Traffic Jam at Rohtand and on Manali route.. Any recommendations on what should we do (Start early or stay at a particular place) to avoid the Jam to the extent possible?
5)How much time it takes for the following routes generally:
Diskit - Pangong TSO
Pangong TSO - Hanle
Hanle - TSO Moriri
Korzok - Jispa
Jispa - Keylong
Keylong - Manali

This is not a feasible option. Suggest stay in leh and then go towards Pangongtso.
My experience - we planned to go ahead of leh as much as possible and take a night halt- We ended up in hemis for a wonderful homestay.

The only place where you can get a sunstroke and a frostbite
as per an old ladakhi saying.
It can get pretty hot in the day and windy and cold in the eve. The rains are unpredictable. ( I am not sure if these comments are any value add but that is how it is as per me)

I would say it is not about preference but make it a rule to reach your destination before dusk.

Get out of the car and take a walk down the hill from rohtang till madhi (if I recollect the name of the village at the base of the mountain towards manali. Let the driver come while you enjoy your maggie at hotel and check out the kesar or forgot the name of the black stone which those touts sell.

Bike rides - Kashmir to Leh and Sikkim, Jungle safaris - Corbett,Chikhaldara, Kanha and Gorumara. Traveled through MP, Himachal, J&K, Maharashtra, W.Bengal, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Goa, Karnataka, AP . . . Yet feel so New to traveling in India.
