tasken ri and dzo jongo
Hi all
We are planning to try a trekking peak this august. We are in our 50s, fit and experienced ladakh trekkers and have done 5600 before, but we are not climbers. We do not want to try any worse slopes than the average la, just want to try a bit higher, say 6000+. walking through snow is ok but not using ice axes for anything other than self arrest. Tasken ri and dzo jongo near nimaling/kongmaru la look like they would fit the bill, anyone with info, rumours or other suggestions? Thanks |

Hi,
I guess you are talking about Ladakh. Is it correct, since both the peaks(Tasken ri and dzo jongo)you have mentioned I have not heard off. I was not aware of such trekking peaks in India. Yes what I thought were do able by trekkers were two peaks near Tso moriri lake and close to Karzok with height of 6000+. |

Hi VSK,
Yes they are in Ladakh, they look like part of the Kang Yatze massif and according to a Ladakhi friend and guide are trekkable. i have seen pictures of gradual slopes over snow rather than climbing. i know the peaks you mention in the tso moriri range, at least one can be walked, from the Gyama La it is the rounded peak to the south. I looked at it last year but was too tired to attempt it. another friend said Mentok 1 and 2 are possible as well See you up there Bruce |
