I tell you ,you got a good deal at that rate....

THANKS for the PM...
It took about 8 hours to reach Hanle. Close to 230 or 250 km from Leh. We travelled in a Scorpio and yes, it was exclusive for our family. I guess it was a good deal. Though we feel Srinagar - Leh was costly when you compare this.

Lakshmi, how much time it took for you from Pangong to Leh?

Did you try German Bakery, Gesmo Restaurant in Leh? Any specific Hotel / Restaurant you would recommend one should try?

Which all Monastries did you visit? and Which ones (2-3) would be your top picks?

It took around 7 - 8 hrs to reach Leh. This was because we stopped enroute to visit Shey Palace and Thicksey Monastery. Otherwise it might take around 6 hrs.

Yes, we did buy some cookies and bread in Gesmo Restaurant. It wasn't that great. Maybe they had a bad set of cookies that day !! Being vegetarians, looking for south indian food, we had only one option. Hotel Chaska maska which has some dosas. Dosas we passable but the sambar was pathetic . But, we are there to enjoy the scenary. So food was not that important. We ate in hotel too sometimes which was pretty good.

We visited Lamayuru monastery, Thicksey monastery, Sumur Monastery and another one in Leh near the palace (forgot its name). Not very much interested in them. Hence the small list.

The lake spans across more than 50 km in India itself. Almost all the tents / rooms are just built on the shore. Pangong Inn has totally 8 rooms. We stayed in room 2. All the rooms until 5 has wonderful views of the lake. You can comfortably sit inside the warmth of your room and see the lake. I will look for a photo of the lake from my room and upload it.
