Something special?
I've just got back home from my first trip to Ladakh (and India!), and I have a question about something which happened on our trek.
On the final night, our trekking crew (guide, cook, pony man) held a special farewell dinner for us. As part of that, they built a huge campfire and covered the campground with around 25 - 30 improvised candle lanterns (we were the only people camping there). The cook also managed to bake us a cake with a handwritten message in icing. Our guide then made a long speech, paying tribute to the friendships we'd made on the trek. At the time (and even now), it seemed very touching, magical and unique -but does it happen on every trek?? |
