Some information on Leh
Hi Folks!
Well, with the monsoon's setting up in Goa in July end, my wife had a change of mind. Now she wants to go to Leh! I like the idea, since I have never been there and am very excited about it. I have a few questions though! 1. My budget is LIMITED. As limited as it can get. I checked cleartrip.com and noticed that the minimum to and fro (New Delhi) is around 23k. I was hoping to find a cheaper option. I was wondering if it is possible to travel to the nearest point by train and then take a bus/taxi/whatever I tried researching on the net, however I am not able to find the nearest railway station. Any suggestions on this one? 2. Within the 9 days, we would be travelling and visiting Leh, one of them is my Wife's birthday (July 28th). Is there something we can do on her birthday! Hope I am not asking for much, however I would like to make it a great day for her. she is fond of music and jamming in a discotheque. Do we have any in Leh (nearby)? If not, what would IM'ers recommend? 3. I am into Photography. What all places of interest would you recommend? 4. Places to stay? Again.. BUDGET is ECONOMY. Cheaper the better. However, I am open to raise the budget a little. My minimum required would be a nice warm cosy place with a double bed, clean and hygenic room/hotel with attached bathroom. Should have electric suppy (Should have not power outages or should provide backup power) Hot water in the bathroom. Internet connection if possible. 5. Food! What is the cusine out there? Any food/dishes you would recommend? Not just mo mos. 6. Any restrictions?? My wife might end up doing shopping there. I have heard that Silver jewellery is very good there! (Am I wrong?) Anyway, do we haveany restrictions on what we can buy(or cannotbuy),also any restrictions to bring the purchases back to Delhi? Any suggestions/comments would be appreciated. |

Rest for any queris you can always get back to me |

See nearest Railway Stattion in case would be Chandigarh. Y i say Chandigarh is Coz From Chandigarh u can Hire a Deluxe AC Bus & reach Manali the Following Day. From manali u can easliy hire Shared Cab or Toursim Bus for Leh.

nubra
hey, i didnt read the long idea for your nine days, but when speaking of Leh, I would defenetely take a bus (maybe taxis are easier)over the mountains to nubra valley. Its the most beautiful place, very tranquil and not many tourists, great people and the nature is really amazing. But, ofcourse, thats more for chilling maybe..just an idea.

The Manali-Leh Highway is your worst possible option for acclimatization , with the second half of the road running between the altitudes of Mont Blanc and Everest Base Camp. ---------------- Now playing: Ali Farka Touré - Instrumental via FoxyTunes
