Route from Pangong Tso to Tso Miri
Hi Folks,
I am planning a ride on my Enfield, with fellow riders to Ladakh in June this year. I intend to make Leh as my base and cover Lumayuru, Nubra, Pangong Tso and Tso Miri. I have mapped out my route apart from a route from Pangong tso to Tso Miri without having to coming back to Leh from Pangong. I have seen a map detailing a jeep safari route from Pangong to Tso Miri via Chusul. But is it relly good enough for motorbikes? Also, are there any accomodation available near Pangong and Tso Miri. Any help on this would be much appreciated. |

Thanks
Thanks mate, your help is much appreciated.
Anyone else has any ideas about the route and if there is one then can it be done from Leh to these places to Manali with 10 litres of extra fuel, as I do not intend to get back to Leh once I hit the road for Pangong. I will be running on tight days schedule and any help forthcoming will really make a difference to my plan. Keep riding safe and GOD bless u. |

Our biker members have done it. Hence the road is eminently bikable. How much spare fuel to carry, etc. is their subject.
Let Yogesh Sarkar see this thread. He will respond. . . .

Raging Bull,
can you send me the map of your itinerary that you have made for Ladakh. It sounds interesting and I would love to try out the same at some time. Many thanks and safe riding |

Hi AvidTrekker,
Thanks for your help. Even I thought that Yogesh would be able to help me out in this. But it seems that he has not seen the thread yet. Sanjay - Here is my plan for the trip. Hope it helps you in devising your own plan. Day 1-3: New Delhi to Leh via Manali Day 4: Leh to Lumayuru and back Day 5 & 6: Leh to Nubra valley via Khardung-la (if time permits,we will stay for a day in Nubra valley) Day 7: Leh to Tso Pangong and to Chususl (overnight stay at Chusul) Day 8: Chusul to Tso Moriri, Tso Kar (if possible) and to Sarchu Day 9: Sarchu to Manali Day 10: Manali to New Delhi (2 days reserved for contigencies) Keep riding safe and GOD bless you. |

Hope you do realize that you can not do Chushul – Tso Moriri – Tso Kar – Sarchu in the same day. That is if you get the permits to actually go to Chushul in the first place. If you do get the permits you will need enough petrol for ~700 kms, not really worth it if you ask me.

Thanks Yogesh for your inputs on this. will keep it in mind while planning my trip.
Also, do you think that Leh - Tso Moriri - Sarchu can be done in a day skipping Tso Kar |

There are two routes which go to Tso Moriri, one is through Upshi-Chumathang and the other one is through Debring (near more plains)-Tso Kar. So if you are planning to do Tso Moriri – Sarchu then you have to go through Tso Kar, unless there is another route.
Leh – Tso Moriri – Tso Kar – Sarchu would come out to be roughly 450 kms, out of which there is around 100kms worth of hard riding. Also to do this you will need enough petrol for ~550kms or would need to buy in black. Ps. got the distances wrong in the above reply, you are looking at a possible distance of 800-900kms without petrol, if you decide to take the Chushul route. |
