Thanks Uttam for your wishes . i will keep you posted and i really wish to go for a trip with you to untouched places of kinnaur once i am back and you are free. Are there any further updates? It rained a bit over the weekend. So the road might be in worse condition.

Thanks Anupmathur. Back from Narkanda after 9 days. Driving to Narkanda and back (now it has become a 2 lane road even from Matiana)has been a pleasure. That road is better than Palam-Dabri Raod..
We returned from Barlachala on 24th May 2009. Couldn't complete the leh trip as the road further was very bad & also had time constraints.
Suraj Tal was fully covered with snow. Only if you look at the notice board, you will come to know, that there is a lake here, otherwise its was all snow...snow.
As per our actual schedule, we were suppose to reach leh by 17th May, but the roads never opened by than, so stayed in Keylong & Jispa, & than managed to reach till Barlachala on 24th & returned back to keylong. We were getting late for our return journey.
Infact, i met several groups / people who returned back from Keylong / Jispa after waiting for several days for the roads to open up.
Never seen so much of snow on Rohtang & Barlachla. It was worth all the wait & the risk we took.
But, i feel so unfortunate, that we had to return half way, due to time constrains.

This is how bad it had gotten beginning of this week.

Not a pretty route to take currently.
PS: I have seen a frozen suraj tal and loved it myself. Sight that made the whole trip worth.
