Hi,

currently in Kaza, is the road to Mud open currently, or better not to try to get there. Using a Qualis.

Thanks,

That's the journey i wish to take. I've been to Khardungla way back in 1979.... thru Kargil, Drass...via Jalebi Pass... when Indians hardly went that way.

I've noticed that they've even changed the milestone at Khardungla now... it used to mention "Highest Point of the Highest Road in the World"

I´m sure that myth will live for many years to come, with or without milestone.

Alank, we are also reaching Kaza on the 27th. How is the accomodation / Hotels at Kaza - easily available? Has the Kunzam La pass opened? Any snow at Kye / Kibber / Dhanker. Please give information. Thanks.

Whoa sitting in kaza and asking us about the road conditions to mudh ? quite ironic !

Kakoli i can confirm that Kunzum la will not open this month period and yes accommodation is easily available in kaza throughout the year, unless it kalachakra which is scheduled for the 4th of july this year apparently.

Regarding the snow, i have no comments.

I thought it was around July 10-12th ..at least that´s the dates given for Dalai Lamas visit to Kaza.

Hi! Dalai Lama dates 10 to 12 July.Apparently Kunzum La already reachable now, going further not possible as yet. Some accomodations problems in Kaza were there(most probably solved by now)reagarding water supply.Snow gone from the villages, I have been told.

Hi! Not yet,in Kaza they expect it to be open by the end of the month. Now you can already go up to the Kunzum La from the Spiti side, and even a little down the road, but not until Batal as yet.

It´s tempting to compare with the opening of Srinagar-Leh last year , also with grand declarations ..that turned out to be a bit of a mess , and leh.nic.in were spot on in not declaring it open. Or maybe they´ve just gone slow ,at all times : the road was never declared closed during the September events either , and obviously it was out.
